Installed Hallman, got bucking, did i knock???
I just installed my Hallman Pro (with the stiffer spring) and turned it all the way shut, then backed off 3 or 4 turns. Originally my autometer boost gauge was reading 13 psi, which i know is low, i think it may be WAY off. So when i went for a test drive, the boost gauge shot up to almost 17 and then the car bucked, HARD, and i let off the gas and just cruised. I turned it back a turn, it bucked, but later, and then I turned it back a full turn again and it still bucked but not until WOT was on for like a few seconds (This is all in 3rd gear BTW). So i shut it off and got on here. i dont want to do any damage. Does my Boost gauge suck, and did i crank it too high? Did i knock?
If your autometer gauge was reading 13psi with the stock boost control solenoid, then you should set your hallman to no more than 15 until you get a replacement boost gauge. I second the fuel cut.
what would make the fuel cut like that? This is the same exact thing that was happening in my Typhoon, i never knew what it was though, although if i put octane booster in the typhoon, it eliminated the bucking.
Describe this "bucking" you are experiencing in greater detail. If it is indeed fuel cut, it happens because you overboosted and it's the ecu's way of saying, "I can't handle any more detonation so I'm not pumping anymore fuel in until this guy lets off of the throttle."
Reason you are hittig fuel cut is becasue your motor is detecting knock. Due to the fact you are prolly running around 23+ psi and you dont even know it. I bet you just have a faulty boost gauge. Get a new one and fine tune the hallman to no more than 21.5 psi on pump gas

Yes the bucking is like hitting WOT and then suddenly letting off the gas, though it is much more harsh than that, the front end dives slightly under this sudden stop of acceleration.
Screw it, i guess i need a new boost gauge. Any rec's?

Which autometer gauge are you running? Usually it's the cheapest models that crap out..
I had a lot of luck with sport comps (boost, oil temp/pressure) on my last car, but I know more than a couple people who dropped them quickly for more accurate (and expensive!) electrical setups.
