tick tick tick tick..........

My buddy's car started ticking after he change to 264 cams. He thought that lifters were bad, replaced them and ticking is there after 16 new lifters!! Its on the cam gear side.......what else under the cam over will cause the annoying ticking?

make sure there is no explosive packages under his car, either from an X wife, disgruntled girlfriend, or a terrorist, if none of these are found, it is N O R M A L! my 272's did it, now my 280's do it! tell him to turn up the radio!

I suggest you peform the lasher/lifter/italian job. Please do a search for lifter noise. Basically rev up to 3000 rpm within 15s and let it idle for 15s. Do this 30x.

His car started ticking "after" the 264s? My car ticks pretty audibly after 15K miles of driving.

Evo's are just loud *** cars, you can hear every noise from every part ALL the time. Do what I did, just buy a JL W7 and crank it up!!!!

That ticking is known in all 4g63's. All the 1st and 2nd gen eclipses and talons did it so bad. Lifter tick but doesn't mean they are bad. Even in my 3rd gen when I had one it did it.

You would think Mits would have fixed this by now, it has only been 15+ years since this motor has been out

yea, I had a tap in my 95 eclipse. They ar e just known for a tap. I dont know why it would start doing right after a cam install. I would go back and check over everything though...I know alot of people have put cams on and havent developed a tick/tap

I never heard the ticking with 272/272 until recently where it comes and goes. I know a lot of people say it's normal but why the heck does some car have it and some don't when it's normal. Doesn't seem normal to me Is this showing up only on cars built on Monday and Friday cars. I wish they give time stamp the build date on the car

When the cams were installed, they were not bled. We learned about that too late. So we put the new set in from Jackson racing and bled them all. You could depress the adjuster all the way with your finger. Installed them and ran it up 30 or so times as per the SOP. When the car is shut down left to sit for a few hours, it ticks. These were installed very meticulusly. I am at a loss as to whats wrong. I thought maybe it was the cam, but cant imagine it ticking like this....???? Could this be a dirty engine and sludging the lifters up this quick???

This is what I think is the reasoning for the ticking sound. It makes sense
