to answer the topic question...I'm going from ACT to the RPS carbon twin disc.
with the ACT i'm having 'high rpm gear lock out ' problems...

hopefully the new clutch will fix it

Heres another thread from a week ago. The only options they came up with is a tranny rebuild or a twin disk.
clutch thread

I hope i didn't waste my money going with a single disk.

Twin disks have twice the surface area to hold more power without increasing the pressure plate's clamping force very much. A single disk would require more clamping force than a twin disk would.

it better work...it's so frustrating

I changed my clutch 2 months ago and have only put a few hundred mile on it, since i finished breaking the new clutch in, because I can't shift at high revs. Its no fun anymore.

It doesn't grind, it just won't go into the next gear at high RPM. It shifts like butter below 5k rpm.

so you have to wait until it drops down to 5k rpm before you can change gears?

Well, no, it doesn't drop to 5k but it takes so long to shift at high rpm that it will drop ~1k rpm before i can get into the next gear. I have no problem shifting at 5k rpm.

I have a '03, stock clutch & experience this exact problem only on 1/2 shifts >7,500, 7k-7,5 I get a grind, below 7k= no problem. For all 2/3 3/4 shifts, any rpm is fine?

BTW, I am using penzoil sychro-mesh.....

inertia issues, timing of clutch disengagement/driver? I dont know....

I have the same problem, i switched last week to Penzoil syncromesh and it still happens when shifting from 7k+ from 1st-2nd.My friend is a tranny tech and said is bc my clutch is worn and is not engaging fully....

I have an ACT and have no problems shifting at high RPMs. In fact, WOT drove my car. I don't think he detected anything out of the ordinary either. I have a stock, resurfaced flywheel. The ACT was installed by RRE.

Warrtalon has an ACT too. I don't think he's run into problems. Perhaps this is a bugaboo of the 5 speed and not the 6? I don't know, I'm just asking questions.

Maybe lighter flywheels cause the revs to drop too quickly between shifts? Again, just a question. I also noticed an improvement in shifting with the Weapon R engine dampener. It reduced the "lurch" of the engine in between shifts.

It would be interesting to see what someone with this problem with NLS would report. I think EvoTio has NLS on his car...don't know if it made a difference. If he doesn't yet have it, maybe he can get it put in, and see if that helps.
