Ebc

So I was wondering about electronic boost controllers......BUT FIRST

I did do some searches, BUT almost all the ones I found kept saying "get a HALLMAN MBC".....I dont want to!
Second, everyone keeps arguing about the damn two "MBC is Better" NO! "EBC is better!" .......I dont care!

Now what im asking for is just some opinions on Electronic boost conrollers. I have installed MBC's in other cars before....mainly HONDAS. And yes they work very good......I just would like to take one step up and get one thats electronic.

I asked some SUPRA forums guys (buddy of mines who drives one is also helping me out on this, runs MBC and is looking for EBC to ) and they said EBC's are good but stay away from ones w/ "fuzzy logic"? well unfortunately I havent got a reply back so

1. what the hell is fuzzy logic? ( i tried searching but all i found was FUZZY =self learning? not sure)
2. Anyone running the Greddy Profec B (i have a greddy turbo timer so i figure greddy would be my first choice)

thanks

-AVCR is good but takes a while to setup properly
-Turbosmart E-boost has widely mixed ratings, dont know what to tell you
-Greddy profec B and type S are good
-The Profec B spec II sucks, so does the profec A
-World electronics is coming out with a sick touch screen boost controller called TBC-1, which is supposed to kick major *** but well see on that one
-Blitz SBC-id is ok, I would never buy it

I would personally go with the new forge UNOS, its an MBC but Al claims it holds boost longer than any other boost controller he has seen, and he sees a lot of evo's so in that regard I trust his opinion. Look into it

HKS EVC V is probably the best EBC, hence the price.

I just got the eboost2 , it does everything, if you can put up with it's look it is pretty neat.
does the standard eboost do most of the same things?

Whatever you do, don't get the Hallman MBC...people that are cheap take that route. I started out with one and it was a POS, so I went with the Greddy Profec-B Spec II EBC...MUCH BETTER! After you get the hang of it, adjustment is easier. No more getting in and out of the car to get under the hood to turn the little knob and test to see what it did. Push a couple buttons, test it...set it and leave it.

I am a huge fan of the old school HKS controllers. The best boost controller I ever had was the EVC II. Had a HI/Low/ and knob for boost settings. I never had a problem with creep or spiking and it was only $150 on ebay. Granted it is not as glitzy as some of the ones suggested here. Also the old EVC EZ was great also. Problem is finding these now, occasiaonally they will come up on Ebay from JDM suppliers.

To the guy that says Hallman sucks. Your a tool. The boost controller works great, you are just too damn lazy to get out of yoru car to set the boost. Why are you dicking with it anyhow. Set it once and forget it.

The fuzzy logic refers to the way that some EBCs determine their boost curves. The original Pro-Fec worked this way, where you would put it in set mode and then make a pull or two and the EBC would then extrapolate the data and plot a "map" for holding boost. In theory it worked great, but it had some issues with a lot of set-ups.

Get your sh*t straight bud, I said it was a POS...and you would know why if you had more than 50 posts and read other threads on this topic. My Hallman, along with many others had a spring defect and were leaking. Since then, I believe they have fixed the problem and they probably work fine. Didn't work for me, it was a waste of $95 IMO. If you think they're just the greatest little boost controller and you want to be cheap...good for you! Also, on the adjustment, you can't set it once and forget it if you plan on going to the track, putting race gas in, and turning the boost up can you? No, you can't!

I have the profec b spec 2 and it's just fine for almost 2 years... I think most people who've had problems with it just don't really use it right. It works well and holds consistent boost all day long, plus it's easy to adjust on the fly. Good luck with whatever you choose.
