I run a 4" that a fabricator made for me. Mine was a little more complicated since I am using the stock MAF and the stock fan. Depending on the turbo kit you have, you may need to to use a slim fan.

Think about this one Zach.

It looks nice and simple from what I have seen in person.

I went from the 3" Buschur Racing intake that I used with my stock turbo up to a 4" mandrel bent intake with a giant K&N cone filter. Data logs from befor and after showed zero difference in spool up of the turbo, and zero difference in acceleration time from 2000 RPM to 7000 RPM in 3rd gear. This was running 22 psi of boost on a GT35R and pump gas. Air flow levels for race fuel at 35 psi there may be some difference in flow.

Hi there,

Currently Im having a 3inch intake connecting to the 4inch inlet of the GT35r. From what u said, there is no differnce in either doing up a 4 inch intake to it rite? THank God, i have not gone thru the 4inch intake route yet...wheew, save money... ;>

If you had to switch over to a 4" intake you can make your own for less than $100. I couple of 4" aluminum mandrel bends run about $10 a piece. A K&N cone filter can be purchased for $50.

That is what I did. A single aluminum 45 deg mandrel bend cost $11 (shipping was more expensive than the bend!) and a giant K&N cone filter for $65 shipped.

Since the intake is not that hard to change, I may see if Dave Buschur can do a comparison between his 3" intake and my home built 4" intake on the dyno. No promisses, but I will see what I can do

i'm using the stock maf right now but i'm switching to map shortly so i have to get a new filter so why not get the 4" pipe also. i'm running a standard bearing 67mm compressor wheel i was looking for it to just move more air up top @ 30psi. when i switch to it i will see how much better the spoolup is of course it will be tuned better so that could be part of it. where did you guys get your 4" bends from?

A 4" pipe takes up a hell of a lot more room in the engine bay than a 3" pipe.
