Anyone Running Crower Cams?
Anyone Running Crower Cams?
HKS, GSC, Jun, Buddyclub...all seem to have people installing them.
Has anyone installed the Crower Cam setup (regardless of stage) yet on their Evo? How do they run? Dyno Charts?

I'm curious about this as well. I've got a $500 credit at Carquest and I think these will be about the only cams they will be able to order for me. So, I want to know if anyone is running them and how they like them.
Regardless, I would think that if Crower makes a cam for an engine, then logic suggests they (or someone) had to do the R&D and testing on that engine. If it were me, I would contact them and acquire the results of the R&D and testing.

I've dealt with their products before in small blocks and I know they make good products. I was just curious if anyone had them and if they did, did they install their valvetrain package with them? Do you need to replace the valvle springs with some beehive springs or is there not enough lift to worry about that?
Alomst every other cam thread I've seen is measuring lift in MM Crower gives it in inches and I've been to lazy to convert it. I'll go try that now.

OK here's what I got from their website:
Stock Evo cams:
219 in/ 210 ex
duration@.050 174/165
lift: .366/.343 or 9.29mm/8.71mm
Crower stage 1:
235/232
dur@ .050 188/188
lift: .391/.372 or 9.93mm/9.44mm
Crower stage 2:
242/240
dur.@.050 195/196
lift: .391/.378 or 9.93mm/9.6mm
Crower stage 3:
242/245
dur.@.050 196/198
lift: .411/.391 or 10.44mm/9.93mm
These seem to relatively low lift compared to some of the other cams out there but, I'm not sure how to compare the data because all the other lift measurements were taken at 1mm. These are at .050" which is 1.27mm. I know turbo cars like a lot of lift but I'm not sure how these correlate say to a set of HKS 272's which are @10.5mm of lift at 1mm.
I think I'm looking for something comparable to a set of HKS 272's maybe 264's. I'm guessing their stage 1's are comparable to 264's, stage 2's to 272's, and three to 280's. I know the numbers don't look that way but, I can't see their most aggressive cam being more conservative than Hk's mildest.
Any one know how to compare these to the metric number for all other cams? If not I'll be calling Crower I guess.

I spoke to Brian Crower he sent me this page from the catalog :
http://www.crower.com/pdf/53-114.pdf
It's page 87 of the PDF. The unnamed cams in grey are the HKS cams. He is recommending the 3/4 race setup with valve springs and retainers. They seem to be pretty aggressive to me.
Do you think they will pass emissions?

I'll be going with the HKS 280s instead tho, either way I think you're good.
Do you think they are overkill for the factory turbo? I only plan on turning it to 7500RPM max.
I think I'm kind of screwed on my tuning options around here too. Unless Shiv thinks he can get it pretty close on a mail-in flash or Ride Revolution has started doing reflashes.
Crower definitely makes some bad *** stuff and have been very good to work so far. They return E-mails quickly with all the info you asked for. They have definitely earned my business through their customer service alone.
