Thumbs up 20G and Dynoflash

Just got finished being tuned by Al and I must say this car is silly fast right now. Looking at the boost logs shows that the turbo comes to full boost around 4100 rpm and holds all the way to 7800rpm. There is some slight taper, which I will try to remedy by tightening the wastegate actuator arm some more. Another thing that is worth mentioning is that under full boost there is some surge, where the turbo sounds like it is fluttering some. I have heard this on other turbo charged car who move up to a larger turbo. It doesn't seem to affect performance and there is no "bucking" when letting off the gas at high boost.

Now onto the good, at only 22psi this car screams. The power is so smooth and linear that you don't realize how fast you are going. Those third gear pulls on the highway were a blast. We also tuned on 110 oct. and 26psi, the results are just as dramatic. The only fast car I can compare this car to is my last evo (see sig.) and this makes that car feel slow. I had a chance to play w/ a KTM 950 SUPERMOTO ORANGE and lets just say he saw taillights several times. The turbo spools just like stock and adds a big dose of power up top. I am one satisfied customer. I have no doubt this turbo will play all day in the 11's as long as my stock clutch is up for the task. The new logging software Al has is an added bonus and I can do realtime playback of all the runs we made. Very cool.

I will be hitting the track next weekend to see what sort of numbers she will run, and will also be participating in AMS' Dyno day on the 22nd.

While tuning, Al was truly impressed w/ this turbo. He said if you can live w/ that little bit of surge, then this is an awesome turbo. Quick spool and great topend.

That is good to hear as I am doing the same setup as you in a coupe of weeks. I am hoping that my 05 evo will make my 03 br stage3 evo feel slow. The wait is killing me.

Cool,

I have kind of similar plans (adding bolt-on turbo, larger injectors, and new flash). Did you road tune or are there any dyno #s?

Keep us updated.

Thanks,

Sounds good Chris. I should have mine on and running today. For now I am going to leave the stock air box and injectors on until I get ECUplus. I can't believe that Al was unable to flash for a 20g even after the Buscher event last weekend. I just don't want him driving my car again. You'll have to take me for a drive later.

does that mean you don't have a dyno chart?

while your opinion and butt dyno are great, i would like to see a dyno curve and know what 'slight taper' is.

I will have charts at the end of the month, and times next week. My butt dyno has been pretty accurate within 10hp or so

I haven't tested the regular 20G, but I am guessing you are correct due to the wheel being lighter.

Without a doubt the best street turbo for the evo

With alcohol and a built bottom end i tuink it could go low 11's or high 10's
