1/2 a clutch install...need input

Started on Friday afternoon and come Sunday the clutch was back on, but the tranny didn't want to slide on the last inch. It gave me enough space to get the 2 top-most bolts on but none on the bottom.

How does everyone else go about the tranny mounts? Did you bolt up the tranny first and then mounts or mounts then tranny?

I hope its not an issue of the spline within the bell housing not lining up cause that would be hell. I figure i got it this far, it must be aligned.

lets just start from here...

need to keep jiggling it and turn it slightly to get it all lined up. ITS A *****. trust me. I've spent almost an hour at this one spot. Just be sure the engine and tranny are at the same level.

Problem is the input shaft is not going in to the flywheel.

Good luck.

good point about the flywheel. You keep the subframe intact?

Did you use an alignment tool when you put the clutch on the flywheel?

[EDIT]
Actually, the Evo doesn't have a pilot bearing, so even with the disk not perfectly aligned, the input shaft would still slide into the disk. However, the throwout bearing might not slide into the retention clip on the PP and end up stopping you from getting the tranny on the last bit. In addition, the bolt holes wouldn't line up...
[/EDIT]

that does makes sense.....is there a way to get it engaged besides engaging it with the clutch pedal?

Pull it back down and re allighn the clutch. I guarantee thats the problem. Ive done enough evo clutches to know that it has to be precisly centered. Especially if its twin disc. Do not try and force it with the bolts. You will end up cracking the bell housing or worse yet messing up the input shaft.

As far as the mounts: I've found it easier to completly remove the rear mount and have the side mount losley attached to the tranny.

alright then thats what im going to plan on doing...

quick but stupid question...

i took out the differential (do not ask why) which means i drained the T-case....no ones got fluid so im going to assume i cant drive it till someone gets it in stock correct? Gear oil and t-case fluid are completely different correct?

The guys at Nashua Mitsu said i could use whatever i wanted aslong as the GL rating matched. I decided against doing it until i could get diaqueen, but im not in a pickle like you are.

Correct.
There are so many opinions on TC fluid that Im not even going to recommend one. Lancer shop sells the good stuff for the tranny. BG Syncroshift(a lil less than 3 qts is what you need). I think they also sell the dyaqueen stock stuff for the diffs also. Cant go wrong with that.
