i have an 03 evo, i was on the freeway a while ago and overreved the engine. the car ran good till about 5krpm then wouldnt go any higher. i changed plugs to ngk bpr7 gapped at .028 then had only a slight misfire regapped to .026 ran perfect.

about a month later started misfiring again so replaced with ngks again gapped at .026 had no effect on misfire, replaced with denso irridiums iw22 also no effect. changed wires with magnecors also had no effect. did boost leak and everything seemed fine.

ive searched but all the problems stop after plugs or wires. whats next? thanks for the help

How much boost are you running ?

Can you rev past 5K without boosting?

 

lowered boost to peak at about 18, now i can rev past 5k but not before changing plugs. i thought the coils were really good on the evo?

 

I get misfire once in awhile,will try to regap to .026 gap.
