Been using amsoil 5w-30 for the last 3 years and I think its the best.

Yeah, I worked at the facility that made the PAO (PolyAlphaOlefin - the synthetic oil) used in Mobil 1.

Oh yeah, the Oil nerds were debating the same rumor - so don't feel bad:

...but Mobil 1 is still based on PAO (not processed dyno oil that is marketed as 'synthetic').

Im starting to think that german castrol 0W-30 may be better than mobil 1. At least during start ups and if you run your oil for an extended amount of time. As for when the engine is running warm I think the difference is insignificant.

i hate the search function on every forum site because you type in oil and something about a bumper or something comes up...what does that have to do with oil?...give me a break...old threads=old news...some of the info is ok but a lot of it is dated...i think they should just delete the old threads after about 3 months or so

all my experiance with cars has been to use mobil 1 but all my buddies that have either evos or sti's have used royal purple so when i get mine i guess ill do the same but i guess it could just be preferance.
