exedy vs rps cluth(twin plate)
The RPS utilizes carbon discs, while the exedy one you were looking at uses ceramic discs (although I believe exedy one now offers carbon replacements) The rps one is a much stronger clutch, with torque ratings of about 800 lb/ft. Very extreme clutch. Rps is actually designing even lighter weight carbon discs so that the shifting will be smooth even at high rpms above 8500 +. It is basically a bulletproof clutch, but again you better be making some serious power in order to run that clutch.
depends on your budget....if you get the RPS and end up breaking it....it's 400 dollars to rebuild it back to factory spec.....not a bad deal.....if you want a clutch that will supposedly last for a long long long long time.....
i had an exedy twin plate and i broke it.........opps

I just put RnR gt35r kits on my car.
and later on(soon) I think my cluth will be gone, that why I'm looking for the cluth that will last long for my car. For the long run... I'll built my engine for sure...... and the thing is I never drive twin plate cluth or triple plate cluth, so what do u guy think?
btw is rps cluth can rebulid for $400? and exedy can not?
thx for answer guyz

I am going with the Tilton for next year. No problems with the Exedy Twin but the Tilton is so sweet how can you not get it, that and 17.5 pounds sounds pretty nice.

the exedy is cool and works well but the rps is very nice!! carbon on carbon+ rebuild if you ever need too!!! when i talked to rps they assured me that the rebuild is highly unlikely...if was going to choose between those 2 i'd get the rps hands down!!!! i to have a gt35r and went through a act clutch rather very easily, i'm also going to be building a stroker motor this winter and shoot for 625+whp.. i plan to drag the car, i'm currently rebuilding the tranny/transfer case so it'll take the power, along with putting a ralliart diff in the process... i did alot of research on clutchs. spoke to alot of people and decided to go with the truly bulletproof ATS triple carbon clutch. they are carbon on carbon on carbon w/ carbon friction plate on the flywheel and your choice of pressure plate compasity!!!! along with rebuild option if ever necessary... these are special order clutches directly from japan...if you are willing to shell out the loot they are the best you can get!!! go to bulletproofautomotive.com and look it up, the desciption will crack you up!
Seems like a total rebuild (on a Twin ceramic) with surfacing and new plates was about $650, could be wrong though. I taked to Matt in the spring to see about it but the clutch has held up so well I left it alone.

We have to assume here that the question is... "What's the difference between the RPS and Exedy Twin Carbon Clutchs?"
Comparing the Exedy Twin Metallic to the RPS Twin Carbon is not a direct comparison - ESPECIALLY when Exedy OFFERS a Twin Carbon Clutch.
Anyhow, the RPS uses *Steel Plates* with Carbon pads riveted on. The Exedy is a true Carbon Disc.
Sure RPS is rated higher - but show me a 10-second EVO running one (that actually keeps the clutch together). If you search the forums, all the REAL cars are running Exedy (either Carbon or Metallic) along side many of the fastest street cars.
AMS, Curt Brown, EvoDave, Dynoflash, Buschur, etc, etc, etc... can't all be wrong.
Anyhow, that's my .02 - PURE MR - don't take this as an attack - just clearing up misinformation.
I know plenty of people with high horse power cars that run the RPS twin carbon including myself. No problems. Who the hell is EvoDave? Just a memeber from what I gather so why would anybody be impressed with his choice of clutch.
Evodave is out there ripping and tearing the guts out of his Evo on an almost daily basis. He pushes the envelope, tears the envelope, and then tapes the envelope back together.
