ok that makes a little more sense to me now. Here is one of my very old spoolup threads.... its almost identical to yours. Your has a small jump in boost compared to mine (I had to kinda detune my car badly in that area due to it wanting to knock at the time). Otherwise they are pretty much identical though. I also threw up a chart that was made by Nate to show people HOW laggy this really is. It has it compared to a few other cars to get an idea The turbo IS laggy as hell. It just depends on what you consider laggy Just look at the stock turbo spoolup compared to the GT35r. Youll see what I mean.

So it is all in the eye of the beholder on what is considered fast spool-up

You spoolup is pretty much the same as the two GT35r's on that graph. You have a tiny moment of more psi but not much at all. Maybe Nate will add your car to this graph to get another car on there.

And mine has completely stock ignition (Even the wires) and has never been "tuned" by anyone but myself. I would except if I ran some meth or true race gas I may be able to improve my spoolup slightly at around 5k also but not much at all really.

Ill just explain what each one is,

First line = Stock 03 Turbo
Second = BR 440
Third = 2.3 liter stroker / gt35r
4th/5th = Mine is the one that goes to higher boost / Fourdoor is the one that is almost identical
Laggiest line - SMC61 w/ buschur turbo kit

Wow.....I am thinking of running a GT35R on my stock 2.0L bottom end.

Looking at that graph, it seems like the lag is gonna kill me below 5K rpm's

Yup Like I said.... it is very very laggy. The gains are insane after 5k but yes.. dont try to do anything under 5k

i did some AEM logs yesterday with my car and my 50 trim makes 28.7 pounds at 4500 rpms...which is very close to yours....

i am very impressed with your results dave cause for having a turbo that is considerably bigger than mine...the spool time is very close......

Humm thats interesting. Since the GT35R's bigger it should have more power potential than the 50 trim.

The GT35R is looking more and more ideal to me now as long as it can boost fast...

the 35r does have more power potential...which is why it spools a little slower....and people have made over 600hp at the wheels with them....

dude u hear what i got on my build at Switzers? spool was similar to yurs and i got 551whp on 93 and methanol and he said he had to hold it back due to my iginition and fuel system so we could prolly see around 600whp with 93 fuel and methanol even

just to fill u guys in, Matt built my car as well and i have the same turbosetup as Dave.. i will post the Dyno Chart when i geto the office i will scan it... But it spools so nice only thing holding me back now is my stock iginition .... Tym had to let off around 7500 because our stock iginition is boo... so i am waiting on Tym to finish his setup. And as for my fuel system Matt from Slick is fabing somthing up for me this winter....

sounds about right... i made 558 awhp and stopped just to keep the stock motor together... plus you have built head and internals, upgraded intake manifold and throttle body and such so i have no doubt you did similar to what i did and more safely. My stock ignition sucked also...i got that hks box if you want to buy it and use it for a while then re-sell it let me know. Also, did you datalog on the road to verifiy the spoolup ? I don't doubt it since you have a similar setup with slickmotorsports build and switzer tuning goodies!

Dave
PS...please hit me up so i can get that HID bulb...

how much does slickmotorsports sell their GT35R BB .63 a/r kit for?

I plan on running this on my stock bottom end, using 93 pump gas with a meth kit, HKS 280's (which I'm picking up this week), ARP headstuds (which I have), Fidanza Gears, Walboro 255 lph FP, 1000CC Injectors, AEM EMS with MAF delete.

as for ignition, I will just add the HKS twin power...

Will this be sufficient???
