driveshaft ? awnsered

I have been looking to purchase a evo 9 rs. And was looking to find more ways to loose weight and did a search on here about the cf driveshaft contacted ACPT and heres their response Thank you for your interest and inquiry in ACPT's world class products. We do not make a carbon fiber driveshaft for the Evo for a couple reasons. First, the Evo driveshaft is not a straight application. The second piece of the driveshaft is angled around the exhaust which does not allow for us to make it all in one piece. Second, if we were to make a driveshaft, it would have to be two pieces; the only thing you can replace on the driveshaft (if it were 2 pieces) would be the actual steel tube with a carbon fiber tube. This would only save you about 4 pounds per tube; in total it would save you only 8 pounds. So be careful when you see other companies offering an Evo carbon fiber driveshaft.
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me
Kindest Regards,

I am big on the power to weight ratio hence im getting the rs also though about a lightweight crank pulley but having second thoughts on that as well.

I would refrain from the lightweight crank pulley. Talk to Mr. Buschur if you have more questions.

yeah thats what i heard also have had good results with it in previous cars but i think ill stay away with the evo. was looking forward to getting a cf or aluminum driveshaft as it took .4th in the 1/4 mile in my mustang. but my first mods are going to be aps 3.5tbe i know a lil much but i plan on getting a garret gt series later. after that a good tuning probaly aem ems had good luck with that in the past.

more than likely it has something to do with the motor balance..as they are balanced from factory..

yeah thats somewhere along what im assuming as well. i know they had a lot of issues with "crank walking" on older dsms ive never experienced it 1st hand though. Im pretty sure they use a harmonic balancer of some sort though.
