Alky Kit Test/Prime Question

I was looking into getting an alcohol injection kit for the evo. I was just wondering if you have to test/prime the system before starting the car every time?

No, you only need to prime and test once after hooked up. After that, once it's tuned, just start and go.

IMHO,to keep you engine in one piece it is best to hit test button every time you go to drive car, after starting and warming engine up,before driving anywhere. This is to insure that meth is spraying as if something is wrong with pump and you hit high boost on pump gas your engine will never forgive you.Or you can do like the above person recommends, then come on here an tell everyone how your motor blew up
because of the Alky kit(when it was lack of end user knowledge on how kit operates)
You should also check condition of pump once a week by looking at gauge and having someone else hit the test button(should hit 100 psi in about a second)
The alky kit is great, but end user must stay on top of it if you want your motor to last

oh believe me i try to keep the motor in tip top shape. the reason i'm asking is because i keep it in such good a shape. i use a remote start to warm the motor up before i drive so i was just wondering if i would have to use relays to have the ignition turn on, test/prime, then start the car but actually i just thought of something. the kit wont spray without boost so actually it doesn't make a difference. i can remote start it, get in the car and check it. if it wasn't working, i'd have to turn the car off to switch maps on the xede anyways. does this sound right?

We purge the system on every refill and each trip down the 1320. If you run low and an air bubble gets in the line the pump will not pressurize.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn't know we were suppose to monitor it that frequent. I just look at the light most times when I'm in boost and if spray comes on then I assume it's working.

i always make sure i test the alcohol before getting on the throttle. There have been a lot of horror stories about engines blowing up cause of a failure somwhere in the alcohol system.

so IMO you should always test your alcohol to make sure it's spraying properly

What he said^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The system is great, but very end user dependant if you want your motor to last.
Here is a quick example, happened to a Customers vehicle.Had system on vehicle for about 4 months and noticed a few extra WHP on *ss dyno,so he figure he would buy another o2 sensor for his wide band to see if he was running somewhat lean.Much to his suprise at 28 psi he was in the mid 12's on a/f ratio on PUMP gas,so he called me and I was like WTF,this couldn't be right, tune is set for low 11's a/f.He tests the system every morning and motor dies right down, stumbling when at Idle and pressing test button. So I have him hold down test button and I monitered the pressure.Guess what, after about 10 seconds pump was able to build 40psi,NOT GOOD.I called SMC,explaind issue, they told me to send them the kit ASAP,most likely a pump seal has gone bad,or something to that effect.Sent them kit, they repaired and sent back,NO CHARGE.Talk about customer service. Now working just like new again.Moral to story is that this could have caused major engine damage had system not been monitered at all,but instead all better.Low maintence system, just needs to be monitered as to not cause damage.
