How many of you or someone you know blew a engine because your SMC alky kit failed at one time? I have mine hooked up but just havent got the time to tune it yet. Trying to see how many people blew their engines cause of malfunction.

mine runs strong. Haven't heard of anyone that properly installed it that has had problems. Make sure your tune is on the concervative side and get the neccessary gauges to monitor the situation and everything should be fine.

Anything is possible I suppose.. I have heard "horror stories" but haven't personally known anyone who have had catstrophic failure due to a failed/malfunctioning kit.

I do recommend somehow setting up a boost solenoid to cut the boost should the fault or low light come on though..

from what i've heard in the beginning they had some problems with the controllers. The rumor is that if you have a controller that says v2.0 on it....you're fine....

but who knows

I wanted to do something like this but the problem for me is that I only got the 1 gallon tank so I could install in in the rear trunk panel of my 05. The tank is so small that the low light comes on at half a tank which doesn't always take that long. I drive a ways to work two days a week and, if the situation calls for it, I like to boost quite a bit both ways. my low light is always on by the time I get home. I think I might want a bigger tank but I really like the flush mount in the trunk. hmmm

Here is one.....

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=168943

A really bad situation, he had the warning light for low level and pump working, but the pump air locked. If you do not have something that either dumps boost or switches to a "normal" map when it senses a pressure loss in the injection tube then I think that you are gambling....

If you don't have a fancy EMS that can control the boost and monitor the pressure in the alky line to adjust the boost accordingly, you have to rely on your eye *****. Get a Wideband and mount it where you can't miss. Monitor the AFR closely and test the system regularly.
I make it a habbit to test(like purging the N2O system) before going *****-to-the-wall.

i got smc v2.0 for my 03 evo been using it for like 2months now!
i love it and seems like good idea to have wideband a/f monitor...

alky user tip==u dont really need to tune for alky but it will help !
just raise the boost to 25-26psi after installed....it works really good even without tune!
u not gonna blow the enigine .... after tune it feel pretty much same for me~! but i boosted up even more to 28psi... i really recommend this alky kit for everyone....its the best mods for power maker my 2c
