New catback exhaust smoking... Normal or serious problem?

Just installed an Invidia N1 catback exhaust. Excellent product for the price. Perfect sound. Drove approximately 4 miles at speed limits... stopped at a stop sign and I smelled something burning and then noticed grey smoke coming out of the rear from where the exhaust outlet is located. Immediately pulled over and looked under hoping I had some road debris stuck and burning on the exhaust pipe. Rather, the smoke was coming from inside the exhaust outlet. Is this normal or do I have a serious problem?

It is normal. It is probably some left over oil from when they were mandrel bending the pipes.
If it dosen't go away after driving a while, then you can worry.

As a matter of fact, it did smell like burning oil. That's what freaked me out!

if you get a new downpipe, you will see the smoke again
Yes, they are left over oils. my helix cat back was free of oil though...

most exhaust companies recommend you let the car idle for 15-20 minutes to burn the packing...no worries though

I'm not talking about a few puffs of smoke. I'm talking about a full on James Bond 007 car chase smoke screen. Haven't driven it since. Too scared too. Have two other cars I use for everday transportation. Evo is the hobby car (2 years old and less than 4K miles on it.) Should I fire her up again and go around the block a few more times?
