Evo IX MR compatible exhaust thread...

After doing a bit of searching and making a few calls I've found that it's difficult to get a definitive answer as to the availability of aftermarket exhausts that will fit up correctly with the new IX MR.

Maybe we could use this thread to compile a list of manufacturers that have a production exhaust that will fit the IX MR without having to make any major modifications.

If you're sure about one, please add it to this thread.

Thanks,

Tony

WORKS has a downpipe and steath HFC that fits on the IX, but no cat-back that fits the IX.

Heres a question though, are the exhaust hangers on the EVO IX in the same location as the 8? I was going to put my HKS carbon Ti exhaust on my friends 9 this weekend. I can reply back as to how it fits.

HKS carbon Ti 'fits' but resonator bumps off the driveshaft* on occasion. Needs to be messed with to align it and thats a pain in the *** on the HKS unit seeing as it loves to shift when driving thanks to the soft factory rubber mounts.

I do not believe this is IX specific but rather the overcomplicated design of the piece (need to add TWO mounts)....very silly IMO when Greddy Ti uses stock mounting points and installed perfect and is very similar in routing.

* no this is not the carrier bearing shield issue, thats another aspect of the IX w/ exhausts. The carrier bearing shield has to be removed. Additionally the bolts may need to be cut off so that the piping also does not hit this part.

I have a normal IX with A'pexi GT Spec Exhaust and DP, its a perfect fit. However the 02 sensor is now located in the cat.

Only the MRs have the 6spd. He doesn't have an MR and he has Electric Blue, which is not offered in the MR trim. I know he already answered, but I'm telling you this so you know how to figure it out on your own in the future.

Thanks Warrtalon - basically I just wanted to make sure because I'm pretty sure there will be a difference in what will work for the IX compared to the IX MR with the six speed. Don't want to end up buying something that won't fit..........

No more of a difference than with the 05s. Most of the exhausts fit both the 5spd and 6spd on the 05s, but there were a few here and there where the DP didn't fit quite right. My Megan 3" wasn't specially designed for the MR, but it fit just fine.

Btw, are any IX owners running the Megan TBE yet?

I asked AMS about the turbo back exhaust, they said it fits the IX. I don't have it on my car yet but I'm willing to test it out.

I'm running a Buschur downpipe, stock cat and HKS Hi-power exhaust. It fits fine.

For the record Tanabe 70mm dits IX MR with plenty of room to spare above the braces...as it should being that diameter.

I threw my old HKS Carbon TI exhaust on my friends 9 last night, both the DP and the exhaust fit with no issues. The only thing that you have to be aware of is that the O2 sensor is now located in the Cat. Thankfully if you are running a test pipe, you can relocate the O2 sensor into the mid pipe.
