guys...sorry to bump and old topic....

I'm using evo 2 engine (still stock 2.0cc) and i just bought GT35/82 (ar 0.82 ex housing). Do you think i made a mistake as i should be using ar 0.63 back housing instead of ar 0.82? Currently my cam is at 0/0. I'll change it to +1i/-1ex.

I recently installed HKS 272s as well and i'm really keen to adjust my cam timing so i could make the turbine spool faster.

wow old thread. As mentioned avobe, try advancing the intake and see how you like it, if that doesnt work enough go the .63 housing. You should pick up about 300rpm.

Maybe you can find out a little yourself. Detune the ignition and fuel but set boost to planned psi. Do some logged runs for various settings and see how it responds to each.

Is there a vast difference comparing a 0.82 and 0.63 housing on 2.0 applications? What is your gt35 spec? which size are you using? What are your cam settings?

I havent tested the .82 vs the .63 myself, but plenty of others have and its about 300rpm better spool but loses a bit up top, how much im not sure, maybe 20-40whp depending on spec. I had a 1.06 when i got my car and it was horrible, but the whole engine setup was horrible too so i can just blame the big housing. Im running the .82 on a regular garrett 3582, feels great from about 4500rpm+, but my car is pretty light being an Evo1 so that may help alot. Not sure on the cam gear settings, the cams are dialed in to GSC specs, i think they are at +2 +2 from memory, i havent touched them yet as im still running the motor in. I do alot of driving thru the mountains around where i live so i need a responsive setup, with the .82 its borderline acceptable.

Who the hell comes on here asking for cam gear settings on a car we have no idea what the exact parts list is. This is why there are tuners. Bring it to a tuner and let them dial it in. Otherwise putting all these parts on your car sounds cool when talking about it in the parking lot, but your car is still going to be slower then a well tuned stock frame turbo car....
