signs of bad head gasket?

Well if anyone read my last thread, my freeze plug poped and all the coolant leaked out. The car over heated real quick, im concerened that the hg might be hurt or damaged. How can i find out? I checked the oil and it looked fine... Ill try to get the dealer to do a compression/leak down test but dont know if they will. What are some visible signs of it? Thanks

Btw, this is the 2nd time it has happened

Water in the oil will create a chocolate milk look. Sometimes oil will be floating in the coolant or it will also turn to chocolate milk. Some cars tend to lope kinda like cams due to loss of compression. White smoke out of the exhaust is common or also a sweet smell in the exhaust. If it seems to be running fine, it's most likely fine but any decent shop can run a compression and leak down test. It will most likely cost you an hour or two at worst in labor for both tests.

i blew the water pump too and sure as **** smells i blew the head gasket. delaership "A" replaced it under warranty. and 5000 miles later when i put in cams and head studs. head gasket blows again because dealership "A" didnt install it right. so now head went to buschur to get worked and is at this very moment being reinstalled at dealership "B". hopefully everything works this time.

Are they gonna charge you? I've heard of a few evos having a freeze plug pop out. A guy down in PR had it happen within the first 500 miles of owning the car. I wonder if they weren't pressed in tight enough from the factory. Strange!

No their not charging me for it, im friends with the service manager and i called him and ask him for it, and he said it was cool. Im getting everything under warranty. Hopefully this wil be the last time this will happen. I wana make sure the head gasket is still good. If they find out its damaged, they will order a new one and replace it..
