Cool. Thanks for the link Steve.

Are all 4 mounts the same diameter in size? Do you remember what size die or socket you used to press the stock mounts out?

How hard is it to get to the rear mount if I don't plan on taking my tranny out? If it's anything like a 2g DSM, the rear is probably the hardest one.

The rear mount is smaller in diameter than the other three. I didn't do the pressing, a friend of mine that goes to UTI did it for me, so I don't know what size dies he used, sorry...

The rear mount isn't tough to get to if you pull the upper intercooler pipe and the battery. You sill still need to get creative with your wrench selection, but it isn't impossible.

The tranny side mount is the real challenge. You need to lower the tranny a good 2"-3" to be able to lift the mount off the studs on the tranny housing. This could put some serious stain on the flexibility of the CV shafts/exhaust/driveshaft, I'm not sure though to be honest with you. My tranny and TC were out of the car when I was doing the install, and my motor was hanging by a strut tower mounted support brace so every single mount was removed at the same time.

The mounts aren't all the same diameter. If you don't have access to a machine shop to make dies I would recommend the following:

1) Place the Ralliart mounts in a freezer for a day or so to "shrink" them.

2) Remove the stock mounts. Drill holes in the stock rubber mount. Enough to get a hacksaw in. Cut through the sleeve and hammer it out.

3) Get a large steel piece, I used an L-bracket from the Depot, to span the mount. Apply a small amount of grease to the leading edge of the bushing being pressed in. Make sure you are pressing the outer sleeve and not the steel inner bushing.

4) Press that sucker in. Pay attention, go slow and make sure it starts straight. I bought a 12-ton $80 deal from Harbor Freight, it worked well for everything (motor/tranny mounts, all suspension and rear diff (Thanks Mark!)).

Just like Superhatch said about the rear mount, I totally agree. I also agree with his statement about the tranny side mount. I too had everything out at TRE so access for me was plentiful.

If you do not want to destroy your stock mount, you can press them out using PVC pipe and a mallet. I've only done this with the front, but you can get a $3 PVC pipe female/female coupler (or size reducer) at the Home Depot that has the exact same diameter as the front mount bracket on one side, and a larger diameter on the other. Then get the matching PVC pipe (they sell small lengths for about a buck as well). Place the female adapter on the floor, put the mount on it, and use the male pipe piece and a mallet to pound out the mount. If it gets stuck in the PVC adapter, crack it open with a hack saw afterwards. Works like a charm. The PVC adapter is white, the pipe is a black piece - should be easy to find.

He did have them on special... $175 shipped, but I think I got his last set....

This was a few weeks ago though, so he might have gotten more in.
