My question is can I run 24psi (daily) with no mods other then a boost controler, with out having problems? If not then can I run 24psi with no mods other then a boost controler as just a race set up, with no problems? And if not what mods would i need to do so? Thanks for everyones help. The EVO is my first turbo car and I am a newb at all this so please be gentle and NO I'm not a snot nosed little brat that daddy bought an EVO because I got good grades. I maybe a kid at heart but I've got two kids. Thanks again for everyones help

lol

It wont hold it will spike and hold for 2 seconds but drop down to about 21-22 psi. You do need a few things to be able to run that psi. One a base flash just to take off the fuel cut and take care of a few other things and a drop in filter and your ready to go. I ran 24psi for a while it just keep on droping to 22-23 so i just set it at 21 and it holds all the way to red line but i do have almost every bolt on mod you can get and more.

Well, first of all, why are you asking about 24psi? What's special about 24psi that makes you want to run this? Also, why do you want to have no mods other than an MBC while running 24psi?

Anyway, you can run 24psi all you want, but it doesn't mean you'll make power. In fact, going that high on pump gas will likely make you lose power while damaging your engine from all the knock. I suggest only running 24psi on race gas, and only if you have a BOV that can hold that much boost and a tuning device that can optimize your AFRs and timing on that extra boost.

24 psi and dropping to 21-22 psi will definitely make you run lean...
get injectors, head strut, and tune and you will be in the safe range..
i wouldnt' do it unless it was on 93 octane..
but why are you trying to risk it?
stay safe and keep the boost at 21-22psi depending on the octane you have available..
throw bolt ons and you will gain plenty of power.

Roger what he said. MBC alone will give you issues, get a boost gauge as well.
MBC and no fuel adjustments(tunning) ended destroying my 4G63 twice on a Laser RS, at least get the MBC and a flash, you will be 10x safer.

No, no no. Injectors and head STUDS with a tune don't make it suddenly safe to run 24psi. Injectors are certainly not a recommended mod on the stock turbo. 24psi is also not recommended on 93oct, so forget all of this. As I said, don't try to run 24psi withour race gas.

I also forgot to mention something. Since this is your first turbo car you have to promise us that you will:

Always use Shytentic oil
Always warm up the engine before driving it hard
Always let the car iddle for at least 30sec to 1 minute before you shut it off if you were driving hard.

That is a must!!

Thanks so far you guy's. 24 just sounded like a nice round number sorry like I said I know some but not a whole lot. I know that our cars run 19psi and taper to around 16 I just thought that 24psi would give me that extra edge, I didn't think that 1 or 2 psi you would be able to tell but I thought 5 you could . I just want that little extra with out going over board. when I had my last car I just kept modding and modding and modding just to keep up with the other guys and I promised my self that I'm not going to do that with this car because its already fast but I just want that "little" extra just to satisfy my craving. I just thought that If I turned the boost up to 24 that would be a noticable diff. and thats what I want a noticable diff. thanks again

"1 or 2psi" is more than a "little" edge. Your stock engine will be sure to let you know that as well as the shop that's replacing it. Take your time with moding and messing with boost. Make sure you read lots and use the "search".
