I got an APS bov if anyone is interested. PM me an offer. Its got about 5000 miles, no scratches, no problems. I just replaced it with a forge that came with my upper pipe.

Ike, good questions.

I recommend either the JDM MR DV or the Forge RS DV. I have used both with great success, so I know you can't go wrong. I am sponsored by Forge, which is why I now use their DV, but I was perfectly happy with my MR DV and recommend it to anyone. Honestly, I think you could sell your SSQV for MORE than it costs to buy a JDM MR DV from NoLimitMotorsports (NoLimitMotors username). Hell, you could probably sell the SSQV for more than it costs to get a Forge RS DV, too, so it's up to you. The MR DV will be sufficient if you're just going to run 21-22psi on pump gas all the time, but if you're going to race a lot on race gas with 24-25psi (or 25psi daily on alky), then get the Forge for extra spring pressure and the adjustability factor.

I'm disappointed in the guys recommending the APS really, because there's no need to get something that is partially VTA. It's just paying more money for no gain other than additional sound. The APS is a good unit, but with the Forge RS in circulation, there's no longer any reason to get the APS.

the HKS SSQV will flutter regardless...most of HKS' products are for "race use" meaning they never intended to have most of their products be used for daily driving. The HKS SSQV is good for quick open and shuts at high RPMS, otherwise the fluttering is normal...which sucks. Recirculating is still gonna act the same. The best thing to do is ditch the bov and go with a MR DV (which will hold very high boost about 24-25psi tops), the Greddy Type S is 1 of the best overall BOVs for Evos. Its a classic (discontinued) BOV and is proven to work on our cars even compared to the newer models. Forge is also excellent but I dont like the washer/spring changing issue u have to go through. its not a BIG hassle once u set it, but ehh Greddy or MR DV

What's the washer/spring thing you're talking about? We're talking about the Forge RS, which is adjustable. There should be no washer/spring changing.

Hah! LOL, me too. Reality bites.

On topic, though, just to add my $.02 - I've used Greddy BOVs with good results. I used a Greddy Type-S on my stock turbo setup, which worked very nice, though it was a bit squeaky. On my current setup (3071 turbo), I upped to the Greddy Type-RS, which, IMO, is noticeably better than the type-s and also fairly quiet (with the recirc kit).

A little OT...but are you running the 3071 on the factory ECU or a standalone?

APS if you don't mind spending a little more.

Some of us have had stalling issues with the JDM MR DV as weird as it may sound.

Factory ECU with XEDE piggyback. For more info go here: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...ad.php?t=84010

The last couple of pages have info on the current setup.

Ah OK thanks. So if you're still running the stock ECU and a piggy back I'm assuming that means the new BOV is recirculating since you're still at the mercy of the MAF sensor?

APS is nice also, but i don't like how the venting port is open to water from the hood vent causing it to act up sometimes, you need to lubricate it here n there

the forge (with springs and washers came with my 06 BR350 #005. no matter what spring and washer combo i used the fluttering was terrible, i went with the 1g from buscur after talking with david and telling him i had great succes using it on my 03 8. he sent me one the next day and without crushing at all just bolting it on the upper int cooler pipe the fluttering completely went away in every gear no matter how easy you let off the gas in boost. it idles smooth as glass and holds 20 -21 in every gear settling down to 18- 19 at redline. no blow off sound at all but i,ll give that up for SMOOTH driveability anyday. by the way the car was tuned for those boost numbers exactely, big al hit it right on the head.
