AEM short ram intake

I just want to have feedbacks from people that have put that intake on their car.
on my 2005 evo 8 i stayed with the stock intake with a k&n panel air filter and made very good power with a TBE, MBC, and reflash, and the car ran 12.6@109 all day long. For my 2006 EVO 9 MR i wanna try something different, I just wanna know if that AEM intake is worth it or not, and i am aware that to get the full potential of an intake i ll need a reflash.

So guys i am waiting on your feedbacks
thx

honestly i think u had a pretty good thing goin with the stock airbox and k&n filter.
it keeps some engine heat out and the k&n gives good airflow.

I have the AEM short ram and ive had it on my previous 04 evo and now my 05 evo mr and in both cases the car needs a retune before you will see/feel any additional power. Unfortunatly I don't have a dyno sheet or anything of a before and after tune, but I know I felt a big differnce once the car was finally tuned.

Like most aftermarket intakes you need to tune it to make them work on a evo. I noticed slightly better spool up going from stock/k&n to AEM intake.

what about the turbo xs shorty, it retains the maf censor calibrations so would you still need a reflash for that intake as well to see any hp gains. What about the arc box, do you need a reflash with this one to? I am looking to start modding my recenty picked up evo. I was gonna keep it stock til summer but tonight on my way home from the gym this guy in a sti with a turboback and what looked like a apexi boost controller on top of dash came to light making a left where I was making a right and started revving his motor out again and again while I was waiting for traffic to go by so I can go. He thought he was such a hard-rock and now I think Im gonna realy start researching parts to start modding. I can't say all sti owners are like this as I met a guy with bolt ons and the utec. He said the utec is the best thing he put on his sti and would do wonders for the evo.

I personally like the aem, but I Buschur recommends the injen w/uip or HKS, he said they produce better results when tuning. The AEM is a great product though. I have it (tuned) and gave me a slight increase in hp/tq. The most noticable is the quicker spoolup and louder bov. I recommend it for the price(compared to HKS/Injen).

I have the AEM short ram and I'm completely happy. The fit and finish are perfect. It responds well and is definetly louder. Lots of turbo spool and by pass valve swooshing. Don't have any numbers for you but the throttle response is noticible. Compared to stock, there is a heat shield for the AEM as well. I'm getting flashed this month so my overall bolt-ons will prove the difference.
