Fuel cut is fuel cut, not a "bog down." It will immediately cut power and boost, and it feels like hitting a brick wall.

You need to put that car back where it was and never mess with it again. You would be making a big mistake if you bought that hunk-a-junk from the sounds of it in these 2 threads so far...

Please, if you can't afford a regularly-priced Evo, then stick with something more reliable and affordable. Do not ruin your finances by getting an abused Evo that has tons of problems, many of which you probably won't know until after purchasing it. You already made a terrible mistake with your Caddy - for your own good, try not repeat it.

As warrtalon said, it's not a fuel cut. Fuel cut is a complete shut down. You need to get a mechanic to check the car out before you buy it. You can't trust a used car dealer. They just want you to buy the car.

right...well the fuel cut as i felt wasnt a complete shut down but it did jerk me forward a little...kinda like if you rev a car really high then just let off how it kinda jerks you. but anywho i def agree that i need a mechanic to look at it i just wish mitsu would do it for free.

fuel cut

In cold weather, if I have my boost up on me Greddy e-01, I hit over boost fuel cut. You would hear a loud "thump" noise, almost feels like someone closing off your intake. The car lurches forward a bit because of the immediate decel. It almost seems like someone turns the car off for a split second. DO NOT KEEP FOOT ON PEDAL! Back off immediately and lower your boost! This usually happens to me when I take my car out the first time in cold weather, and I forgot to lower the boost for cold weather. It's amazing how much turbos love cold weather!

Do yourself a favor and skip that evo. I bought a supercharged S2000 and stuff kept going wrong with that. Broke my heart and nearly the bank.

It could work for you, I did the same thing but don't recommend it. I bought my used '03 with low miles on it and straight off the lot I had a major rattle/grinding noise above 4500rpm. The car was put back to stock and luckily still under warranty. Mitsu kept it for 14 business days and did fix the problem. However, I never got a receipt or explanation from the service manager, the only EVO certified technician there. Now, that dealer has closed and he is gone.
