fuel cut?
fuel cut?
ok as some of you know i am looking to get a used evo like i stated in a previous thread....and im sure i could search and findout info on this but i need info asap because i am on my laptop at work trying to get this deal set...anywho! me and my buddy went out in the evo today and gunned it to see how it held up and the one thing we noticed was that every now and then around 4k it would kinda bog down...we were thinkin it was fuel cut but why would this be happening and is it a easy fix?
Fuel cut is fuel cut, not a "bog down." It will immediately cut power and boost, and it feels like hitting a brick wall.
You need to put that car back where it was and never mess with it again. You would be making a big mistake if you bought that hunk-a-junk from the sounds of it in these 2 threads so far...
Please, if you can't afford a regularly-priced Evo, then stick with something more reliable and affordable. Do not ruin your finances by getting an abused Evo that has tons of problems, many of which you probably won't know until after purchasing it. You already made a terrible mistake with your Caddy - for your own good, try not repeat it.

you dont think with the evo being under warranty is good at all? would fuel cut be covered under warranty? and i havnt really knocked the car too much on here and i dont get what is the big deal about having worn down brakes and fuel cut? sounds like basic evo problems. but then again i am not a evo owner thats why i came here and i appreciate all of the advice.
As warrtalon said, it's not a fuel cut. Fuel cut is a complete shut down. You need to get a mechanic to check the car out before you buy it. You can't trust a used car dealer. They just want you to buy the car.
right...well the fuel cut as i felt wasnt a complete shut down but it did jerk me forward a little...kinda like if you rev a car really high then just let off how it kinda jerks you. but anywho i def agree that i need a mechanic to look at it i just wish mitsu would do it for free.
fuel cut
In cold weather, if I have my boost up on me Greddy e-01, I hit over boost fuel cut. You would hear a loud "thump" noise, almost feels like someone closing off your intake. The car lurches forward a bit because of the immediate decel. It almost seems like someone turns the car off for a split second. DO NOT KEEP FOOT ON PEDAL! Back off immediately and lower your boost! This usually happens to me when I take my car out the first time in cold weather, and I forgot to lower the boost for cold weather. It's amazing how much turbos love cold weather!
