proper way to drive a twin plate clutch

I was told the second it starts to grab your suppose to drop the clutch? I heard If you slowly release it like a normal single plate it wears out much faster

depends on the clutch. and ytour not supposed to just drop the clutch off as soon as it starts to grab
carbon clutches neet to be heated up when you launch the car it doesent wear the plates out as fast and the hotter the clutch gets the more it grabs

ok sorry for not being clear. I have the Exedy twin cerametallic clutch. Dont know why when I slowly slip it I s"ometimes" get a warping noise. My installer said the reason why that noise is there is because (1. the clutch is still in break in process. (2. Your not suppose to let it slowly slip when with a twin disk....just kind of let it drop...not completely dump it

The only time the clutch wears is when it is slipping. Otherwise all it does is spin, engaged or disengaged. To be easiest on clutch wear, dump it! To be easiest on the driveline, slip the hell out of it. OK, both are obviously extremes. Somewhere in the middle you will find your answer. A lot depends on the launch rpm, throttle position when dropping the clutch, etc.

My Exedy Twin made a howling or squealing noise for about the first 5000 miles. It went away, and now only comes back when I drive the car really easy for a while. You can't just "drop" the twin unless you are full throttle. Usually when I let it out too fast it bogs real bad. I have to slip mine.

40 autocross runs with drag race launches, 15 passes at the drag strip, and about 25000 miles of hard driving, and it is going good as new.

The Tilton Hybrid grabs real hard. I can't imagine having to drop it to get the car moving. I spoke to an engineer at Tilton and they said I could slip it for about 10 feet to get the car going without much wear on the clutch.

Don't drop it but quickly slip it when the car start moving. You'll likely get bog if you drop it (happened to me a few times at the drag when I did that), this clutch grap like a ****.

I tend to rev my car a little higher as I'm taking off from a stop from when it had the stock clutch in it. I have the Exedy twin disk and just slip it with no problems. As you drive it, you'll find a happy medium and get used to it.

My gears seem kind of notchywhen I first start it, but once everyhting warms up it's fine.

same clutch as yours, and i don't consider this as a problem. It is slight hard to engage only when the transmission is cold.. just take it easy when you drive the car for a few minutes.. once the transmission/gears/lubes warm up, it should be easier to shift..

btw, hows the turbo?

oh yeah and happy chinese year
