gsc cam marking?

Hello-

There is only 1 marking on these cams, so how do you know which cam is what spec?

Does a "1" stamped on the camshaft hex = 264 & a "2" = 272?

The markings on the box doesnt reflect/correlate to the single digit stamped into the hex on the camshaft.

TIA

The 1 and 2 should refer to intake and exhaust designation as far as I know. There is no way other to eyeball the cams to tell the duration.

The exhaust cam will have the "slot" in it for the cam angle sensor.

No. I installed a set of gsc cams in a guys car. He was sold 272's, but the nose profile of the intake cam didnt look as long in duration to the exhaust cam. I beleive he may have been sold a 264 int. The engine also idled very smooth on oem cam gears......

Either way, he was happy. I was just curious to the number designation vs cam profile.

Yeah I talked to greg at GSC a couple of months ago when i installed my gsc 272's and noticed very little change in Idle and he told me that they designed there cams to sounds almost like stock. Also the only way to distinguish between the cams is the marking on the box that they come in he said. Other than that you just have to trust that is what you got from them. But over all Im very happy with my 272's

Even though the cams I got from them are supposed to be 272 i 264 e, the boxes they came in were allready opened so I will never know for sure. Car runs great so it really doesn't matter I guess

I run the GSC 272/272 setup and the idle is very nice. It's not harsh , it has a little lope to it. Overall they are GREAT and I couldnt complain at all.

PS - Gregg wouldnt stiff you, if he says you got 272's, I'd bank on it.

He won't stiff others but its different in my case.
I bought a set of the v1 cams and a month later brought them back and requested the V2 cams as a replacement. The cams I brought back were soaking in a bag of Mobil 1 which spilled all over the counter in his shop and made a mess. He basically gave me the new cams before the oil got everywhere and became a hazard.
