High Boost Actuator?

I just ordered my revolver cams, and everything else I needed, so now I am getting ready to order my 20g-9 turbo. I am not sure whether I want the high boost wga or not, and I would appreciate a little input. I read on Buschur's website that the lowest boost possible with the actuator is 22-23 psi, is this too high for cali pump gas, or should it be ok? I think with cams it should be fine, but I don't want to pay $175 for it if I don't need it. Also, is the stock wga bad, or is it ok? Any help would be great. Thanks

Anyone? I'm sure someone has experience with an aftermarket wga. Thanks

it is too high for pump gas, i just got mine yesterday with the regular actuator which will be fine for now. There is nothing wrong with upgrading in the future if you don't like your setup

You get that turbo with a kit including an actuator so the stock one isn't compatable, I think. Read the thread on the turbo to get the facts

You receive the turbo with a standard Evo-9 WGA (12-13 psi). For 91 octane I would stick with the standard WGA because you may want to be able to lower your boost to 19-20 psi. The only advantage that I have heard of with the high boost actuator is slightly less boost taper, but at 23 psi you may not be able to drive the car on pump. Just my 2c.

I was comparing my standard 20g-9 wga to an Evo9 and the wga is different from buschur...so its not stock

Just as a interesting off topic note I discovered, I tightened my stock WGAct two complete turns and my car holds boost so much better - before 18 -19psi 1st gear no matter how tight of mbc setting, now it holds pressure all the way at any mbc setting like it does in third gear (solid 22psi -21psi taper). Difference on how the car pulls is night and day with just two turns on a nut.

The secret of getting the most out of your turbos available boost is to T clamp all the fittings, make sure the BOV holds the air, and make sure the actuator holds the door closed until commanded.

Have you considered SMC so you can run 23+psi on Al gore gas without worry?

I would first try the standard actuator with just enough preload tension for a closed flapper and adjust the boost accordingly and hopefully won't spike to 21, if it does then you'll need a softer setup for sure.

There are more choices than just stock and the Buschur HP. There are also the Forge and the Forced Performance, for example.

tightening means making the waste gate rod shorter or longer?

Thanks for the replys. Is my wga on my 2003 turbo the same as an evoIX wga? I would guess not, so if I'm going to buy an actuator, I might as well buy an aftermarket one. I'll ask Buschur about this before I order, I don't want to get the wrong thing. Thanks
