Depending on what you are tuning the car with I may very well suggest changing to 280's before the turbo. The "Freaking" 2.3 won't help the top end power much if at all, so what you see on the dyno sheet up top is what you can expect with a 2 liter too.

Good news though, this weekend we will be tuning atleast one 20g-9 car, Trent's. Trent's car has our complete Stage 4, Race FMIC, 280's, stock head, stock shortblock, stock intake manifold, stock throttle body and STOCK computer. The car is getting a flash for both pump and race gas. I will for sure be posting these dyno sheets as soon as we print them.

Well, I pretty much have everything on your stage 4 (equivalent) minus the I/C, which I dont think is needed just yet. My tune is a custom flash from your boy Al (thanks Al!). Personally, I dont think it would be in my best interest to upgrade from my 272/264 setup to 280's, just to reap the reward from this turbo. I am hoping that this turbo will yield enough gain (for the dollar) without having to put in another cam setup. Now of course, I know that 280s would yield even more power. Point being, that doesnt matter right now.

The point is for alot of us (your customers and hopefully soon to be future customers) are eagerly waiting for a good comparison. So far, we havent seen, what some would say, an "apples to apples" comparison.

However, it sounds like this weekend, we will!!!!
I know I cant wait to see the results, and I am sure there are many more who cant wait for this weekend to come.

Continue to keep us informed.
Thanks,
Nathan

You are saying that your car dynoed 262whp on the buschur mustang dyno and you are going to retune/redyno the car with no changes besides the turbo? That wuld be the best test to date. If not we are all still pissing into the wind.

The stock FMIC is probably more of a bottle neck in your setup than the cams. Why would you spend $1500+ on a turbo to gain 20-30 whp before doing a $700 FMIC upgrade good for 10-15 whp?

because on the stock turbo the stock IC probably isn't as big of a bottle neck as you think. I think the stock LICP is a bottleneck, but not neccisarily the IC.

so.....some of this disputs the 20g-9 being a race gas only turbo. Obviously this is not the case?

Replacing the LICP isn't going to improve cooling. It's clear that the stock FMIC allows intake temps to rise fairly quickly with a long WOT pull (as in multiple gears, not a dyno pull) compared to a better cooler. Every 10 degrees is 1% power lost, per Martin Musial, so it's not hard to see that having a 1-10 degree temp rise over a multi-gear pull with a bigger cooler is going to be significant compared to a 30+ degree temp rise with the stocker. Dyno tests show 10-15 whp on the stock turbo on a dyno with fairly static air and only a single gear pull. The gains would be even greater on the road with repeated and longer pulls through multiple gears, as in a 1/4 mile run or autox/road course. And compounding this gain with better cooling is the ability to run more timing without knock, which further improves the power gain in the real world.

So is there some kinda install kit for the 9 turbos to work on the 8s? Water and oil line are different I thought.

Yes there is, Buschur sells it for $175.

I wonder if you really need the install kit though. I've done a couple of T-25 to 16g conversions on DSM's and never used any of the install kits. I found the aluminum water pipes can be bent relatively easily to fit around tight areas. Also I've used a stainless braided line for the oil feed in the past, which aren't that expensive. The only thing is that LICP extension, which you'd probably have to have fabbed, unless someone made a full LICP for that turbo.
