I dont want to lose focus of what this thread was intended for. Therefore, if you want to take up this line of conversation send me a PM. I will go in to detail and answer your question.

Sorry, I just dont want to clutter up Dave's thread.

I dont understand why people are calling this a race gas turbo??????? A GT35R is a race gas turbo b/c it can sustain upwards of 30psi until redline and it makes huge gains on race gas over pump gas. A 20G doesnt gain 150+whp over its pump gas map when using race gas, probably only 50whp max, which is shown through David's RS' past dyno charts. This turbo will make over 400whp on pump gas with GREAT spool. To me, this is impressive and qualifies as a great all around turbo. Not a race gas only turbo.

Oh really? Well, would you use a gt35r in a solo2 event (Autox)? would you want it in a tight road course? The reason the 20-g would be a good race turbo is b/c of the power and torque it makes with minimal lag which is AWESOME for corner speed and even long straits. Do all "race" cars make over 500hp, no. in a lot of stock classes "race" cars only make 150 whp. So i don't know what your definition of "Race" is. It could be a good race turbo if it only made 20 more whp. Its the characteristics of the turbo, not the maximum power.

Edit* Unless of course, "you live your life a quarter mile at a time!"

He wasn't saying it wasn't a "race turbo", he was saying it wasn't a "race gas only turbo." This turbo would actually be an awesome autocross and road course turbo and I don't believe anyone has said otherwise. The point of the thread you quoted was to say that the 20G-9 will perform very well on pump gas, and was not a "RACE GAS ONLY" turbo as some have argued.

Well, I'd like to see the results of the turbo upgrade alone, I think there is some good power in the turbo alone, but I like to have facts and results to be sure.

Thats what I wanted to know. I seem to remember in another recent thread about the 20g-9 that with the high pressure actuator only allowing a minimum boost of 22-23 psi that it limited this turbo to race gas only. This seemed strange to me as larger turbos are capable of the same power on pump, why would this turbo require race gas only...I think we cleared that up.

This 20g-9 can make power on pump gas for those of us that want it as a direct replacement for the stocker. Anyone disagree....I would like to hear Mr Buschur's comments.

Nathan, I'd suggest doing a FMIC and 280 cams before every considering doing a turbo. Either of them are going to give you more HP per dollar spent than putting the turbo on the car.

My point is if you don't have ALL of OUR Stage 4 on an EVO first it is senseless to buy a larger turbo.
