Ok so now that there has more testing done on the IX, is the MIVEC or the turbo responsible for the gains over the VIII? Im seriously thinking of trading my VIII for a IX, but,if 95% of the power difference is due to the turbo, then its not worth it for me to trade in and put more money down.Some ppl say its the mivec and some say is the turbo . Can vendors please discuss and speculate on this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

i think its a trade off for both. and also the evo9 the back is droped 5mm so the acd work a bit better also. not just about the power in car.

i think turbo makes more power. and the Mivec is about the spoolup. It drives alot nicer than 8's,
meaning, Theres no on/off boost spots.

 

no off boost spots has to be some. just they much have a nicer tune in the thing.

 

it's not just one or the other, it's both.

the turbo increase top end while the mivec increase power in the low-mid range. i don't think you can say for sure which is responsible for the majority of the increase unless you put the ix turbo on the viii and put the viii turbo on the ix.

I doubt either one is responsible for 95% of the gains, it is probably more of an even split.

 

I believe it to be the turbo that makes the peak power go up. The broader torque band is a mixture of both the turbo and the MIVEC.

Turbo ... other things that help, MIVEC, new ECU architecture, revised pistons (supposedly), revised coolant passages in the head (supposedly) ...

 

I would buy a IX if the paint was better....Mitsu has to have the worst paintjobs in existance.
