Buying EVO

I am not sure what EVO to buy?? EVO VIII or EVO IX. I am looking to make put 15-20 grand into it and hopefully achieving 600-650awhp on 93octane. Is this a feasible plan? Or can this be done for cheaper than even that? I have the money saved for mods 17k right now. I am going to take out a loan on the car it is very affordable for me on the payments side, I am putting 5,000 down no matter which car I get. I just want reliable RAW EVO power.... and did I mention that I LOVE EVO'S!!!!

Obviously you don't love money cause you are ready to give it away. $15-20 grand in MODS?! Did you win the lotto or something?

You won't do that on 93oct unless you mean 93oct + alcohol injection. You may be able to achieve the power mods plus supporting mods plus drivetrain reinforcement plus sufficient rubber, but you'll probably want to get a crappy 03 for very little money and then completely build it up from scratch. There's no need to get a new 05 or 06 just to strip it down and built it up. If you get a used 03, you might have even more money with which to achieve your power goals.

Get a VIII RS and then follow David Buschur's lead:

Good luck!

No lotto...

First of all thank you for the good input. I just recently got back from a 6 month deployment in bahrain and came back with 17,000 dollars. I just got out of the military and landed a 60k a year job. Just money to blow and I'm young and single!!! Figured I would make it worth it and get an EVO and instead of a MKIV supra it seems they want to much for those even though they are worth it... dang I hate when I say that!!! Supra's are capable of handling 900hp reliably on the bottom end and to rest of the drivetrain stock!! And the 6-speed can handle pretty much anything you put into it. I would say that it is the most mod-friendly platform to buy ever produced!!! Oh I am dumb this is an EVO forum but anyways thanks again for info guys.... once again.....
