Installed LICP, checked for leaks, no power gain?

ello all, I bought a LPI LICP used for my EVO and installed the sucka 2 nights ago.

when i took it out for a test drive I really couldnt tell a difference in power or spool...but it seems as though the turbo doesnt hit as hard when I tap the gas though...

anyhow, I tightened everything down properly and positioned the LICP properly....its just wierd since I am still able to peak at 1.94 Bar on the blitz boost gauge, its hard to tell if the car gained anything at all... can anyone help? or should I just put my stock LICP back on?

yep. the turbo wont hit as hard. thats something that my friend felt when he installed it. but he did notice that the turbo will hit max boost sooner, but take longer to spool.

You can't feel 7-10whp on the butt dyno, sorry.

Blue Evo 8, you can't be relying on your butt dyno, either. You need another dyno with overlay to show the exact spool characteristics and any difference in power...

Like War said, you will not be able to tell the difference.

I'll be installing a IC pipe kit on my car very soon and doing a before/after dyno comparison so everyone can finally see either snake-oil or gains.

I will also do overlays so we can see any changes in spool, curves , peak, etc

Dude you didnt do a pressure test. You should really do it. My clamps were tight as I could put them and I still had leaks. Do a pressure test and make sure everything is 100%

If he says he felt it, I'm sure he felt a difference. Some people can tell a 7-10whp difference. Shoot, when I installed my xpower I could notice a difference and the dyno concurred of a increase of 8awhp. A 7-10 whp is also a difference of a JDM B16A and a USDM one. And you can tell the difference after driving them back to back. I know because i've had both.

Maybe you just have a numb *** dyno?

Sometimes when you install something you will think you had a gain when you may or may not have gained anything.... only real way would be to dyno it. I know ive installed stuff and in theory you will think you gained something when u didnt.

I was barely able to notice a difference when I installed mine, only thing I noticed was I had to turn up boost slightly.

I can only feel when there is about 40whp or more gain. And the power can fluctuate like +- 20WHP. LCIP won't make you feel anything. When I put ported mani and o2 housing, I didn't feel any. but, there was a gain like 8 whp when I measured with my ghetto style road dyno.
However, you can feel the slight difference in power when you are running againt the other street cars. your car will leave bit more distance than before.

How is what I said a placebo effect? I dyno'd my car before and after the xpower and found a gain of 8 whp. The USDM and JDM are proven to be about 10whp apart, mainly due to their OBD1 and ODB 2 systems. The topic of this guy feeling his UICP might be a placebo effect, but "You can't feel 7-10whp" is not. Anyone who's been around cars enough should be able to tell when their cars power is increased by 7-10whp. People like Rhys Millen can even tell when their cars weight is changed by as little as 50 pounds. It just about being around your car and knowing your own car.
