Unfortunately, the one thing that I learned for sure from being on the internet is that there are plenty of people willing to give you advice from someone else's experience and not their own. This kind of information can sometimes be helpful, but sometimes misleading.

What makes it worse is when people claim to be giving you advice, but then do it in a manner that is demeaning because you didn't make the same decisions that they did or see the answers as clearly. It is really easy to insult people when you're not sitting face-to-face.

Sorry cheerleader, didn't mean to be a jerk.

Enough of this Saturday morning special bulls**t.

Have a day!
oh, this is too funny! So what you're asking for, is advice from only those that have blown a TC? But the advice you're getting is from those who have stuck with the stock diaqueen fluid and haven't had any issues, yet their "experience" doesn't count?

I dunno, you ask for advice on how much fluid the TC holds (when it's stated in your owners manual or found with a simple search), but then take that holy'er than thou attitude by asking someone to explain the chemistry and physics? One would think if you knew the chemistry and physics behind it all, you would also be able to explain why you can't get the recommended amount of fluid in your TC.

You don't need to know the chemistry and physics, you just need to know the failure rate of TC's that didn't use diaqueen vs. those that did. And where do you get that information????? I'd start with the well respected sources that rebuild Mitus TC's for a living, like TRE. Just friendly advice and good luck with your car

retracting statement..

My original Statment...

I just changed my tranfer case fluid this weekend and couldn't get enough fluid in the fill hole I had the car on a lift, and used a little less that half a quart before it over flowed. It just didn't seem right; i mean it looks like i hardly put anything in it. This is the real issue.

If i recall the specs the TC should hold more fluid that the Rear diff, Right?

this coment i just made for no good reason. I knew that the TC took about half a quart. I was wrong about the TC holding more fluid than the RD. but it's always easier to ask than to look it up, after all This last coment was not the real question.

BTW the search is pretty useless most of the time, but i still use it.

to answer your original question...sometimes a little air get trapped in the diff when you are refilling. just rotate the wheels a few times, and then see if you can add additional fluid.
