I dicked with the cam gears trying -4/-1 and -3/-3 as well. The difference in peak power was minimal at about 5WHP. I stuck with the -3/-3 because I had about 5WHP more in the mid range but lost about 3WHP down low and up top as well. The only noticable change cam gears made was where peak torque hit. With the -3/-3 combo I was able to move peak TQ nearly 1k RPM sooner in the powerband.

When all is said and done, I would say get 272s and dont get cam gears unless you think having the ability to move 5WHP/TQ around is worth $200. As for the idle and cam noise....I didn't bleed the lifters and I have no noise. I bumped my idle up with a tad with the screw on the TB and it idles like a race car but hasn't stalled out. Personally I liked the sound of the car with the 0/0 setting best. Using the -3/-3 is sounds like is missing a tad, less consistant than the brrup brrup brrup at 0/0.

do u have a Dyno sheet? i wanna see where u moved the cam gears, i wanna see the extra mid range power.

I do....but RS MOTORS wants to start a new thread and post the results so I'm holding off for a bit.

Like I said the max difference in midrange was very little and it cost me some up top and down low. For me CGs were a big waste of money. I should have put that $200 toward an alchy injection kit.

Question that I have been trying to ask is.

1) will the 264 pull til 7000-7500? because install sheet says no do not rev past 9300 so i'm guessing it will pull like a mother till 7500, or not

2) off a roll, how bad will a 264 car it loose to a 272 car? 1 car lenght?
if it will lose a car lenght, that is not that bad.

3) does or will it idle lumpy, i know not as lumpy as a 272
but lumpier that stock, because lumpy sound good.

4) is the trade off really worth it in traffic. or having check engine light who's mail in flash works best.

5) people with 264 speak up, i have heard from 2sloevo already need more inputs

It idle issues can be overcome by adding some fuel and timing or even bumping the idle up a tad. I haven't had any codes due to the 272s. My car had never stalled on me.

sold my 264 i/e cams, I ordered 264/272....this should keep me at bay with my stock turbo. When I do upgrade the turbo, the 272 intake cam will be installed with new springs, retainers and valve seals.

Man its like the title of this thread 264 vs 272, I went with both those cams
I will post the install and the before and after sound clips flashed and unflashed.
Its whose flash I will be going with is the next decesion.

Is their a poll for whose flash works the best with this particular combo?

I believe that the 264in 272ex has worked really well in the 4g63 for years. Dsm'r swear buy that combo. I also noticed that 600+ whp supra use 264 or no cams at all.
