Choice of Cams?

Im about to upgrade my cams in my 03 evo 8, i have decided to go with 272 duration cams, but now the choice is what company to go with. I have narrowed it down to either XS Engineering or Buddy Club. If anyone has info or anything to say about either of these cams or any other company that makes cams, your input would be greatly appreciated.

How in the world did you narrow it down to those 2 instead of the brands used by 90% of Evos (HKS and GSC)? I didn't even know XSE made their own...

im different i guess, but anyway yea my friend just put xs engineering 272's on his evo and even being untuned his car gos fast, one reason that i am not impressed with hks is that my same friend before he was cammed he stayed right next to a hks272 cammed and tuned evo from a roll, i have been researching alot and have found that those two companies make cams for my specific needs

Between those two companies I would go with the Buddy Clubs. Never really heard anything from XS Engineering before. Are you going 272 exhaust and intake, or staggered 264 and 272?

Either the car with Cams was not tuned that well or ur buddy has a factory freak. I do not think the Cams were responsible for his lack of power.

actually i think he does have a blessed motor because he does beat alot of things that he shouldnt, but still the fact is that the other evo had cams and i believe the last tune it had was from al when he was in pheonix a couple of months ago, but dont quote me on that, but even a blessed motor can only go so far

Al does his fair share of good tuning on th East Coast, but once in awhile, especially in the West(land of 91 **** gas) he has botched a tune or two. All tuners have tuned cars that arn't accurate representation of their abilities for many reasons. Your friend with the cams definitely has either a boost leak or another issue yet to be determined. Maybe he has low compression in a cylinder or he runs ARCO gas. I have no idea but I do know that HKS cams do work and all the cams u mentioned probably work similarly. Go with the cheapest cams that have been proven to make decent power and be happy. OUT!
