Greddy bov not blowing off loud at all?
Greddy bov not blowing off loud at all?
I just put in a greddy bov. I have the stock intake so it wont be to loud but this is barely even noticeble at all you have to actually listen for it. Im assuming its a leak or something but i dont think so because there isnt anything i can hear or see that would leak.
Do i need to take out on of the springs or adjust the actually bov?

EDIT- i think APS has a BOV that does both recirculates and vents

From what I understand, the greddy type s plugs right into where the stock recirculation is... I dont know much about this bov, but if you can turn it, unplug it from the hose and turn it and plug up the hose that the bov connected to. Then you'll vent to atmosphere and it'll be really loud.. BUT you might run ****ty (really rich and bog on quick shifts and have a ****ty idle). From what I understand, this is because the MAF sensor reads how much air is going into your engine and the ecu already gets a set air/fuel mixture determined because of that. But once you blow off into the air, you'll blow off some of the air that's already been accounted for and end up with a rich mixture... which in some cases, flood your engine with fuel. If you got an HKS SSQV, i think those kits come with this little cap u put on the stock hose if you wanna blow off in the air. They also come with a little recirculation fitting to blow back into the car. But honestly, if you are going to pay money for an aftermarkket bov and then want to recirculate it, you might as well have stuck with a stock one bceause they are just as good and dont cost 200+ bucks... also they both wont make noise. Hope that answers your question. It's your car, you can do whatever you want to it if it makes you happy.
btw: if you really want to blow off in the air safely, I believe AEM has some sort of MAF delete and probally has something to convert your car to a MAP.

This is a performance oriented forum, topics such as these will be ridiculed. If you want to have a louder blow off valve, here are your options:
1.) vent to the atmosphered (NOT RECOMMENDED, you will lose a noticeable amount of power by doing this)
2.) Use a metal intake pipe (will increase horsepower by a slight amount if used with in conjunction with a high flow filter)
3.) Use a blow through GM maf translator-sensor setup (warning, they don't work so well on EVO's yet) so that you can vent to the atmosphere and not lose any performance by running too rich

i dunno about evos, but my 240 (skyline engine) ran like crap at idle when blowing off atmospheric when I tried it (more for ****s and giggles than anything). I believe HKS EIDS or whatever it's called can smooth out the idle quite a bit, but does'nt quick solve the top end problems... BUt then you're paying a ****load of money just for a sound that serves no purpose other than let people know you have turbo, if they did'nt already figure it out from the FMIC and the fact that it's an evo..
