BOV Question

Ok, this is NOT one of those "which BOV is best" threads. Sorry to disappoint.

Anyway, my bov is now VTA with the addition of an EMS. While the car is ideling, its blowing off some air. I tried tightening the spring (APS BOV) and its still leaking the same amount of air. This is my first VTA bov, so i'm not sure if its supposed to be doing this or not.

Anyone know if this is normal or not? It holds boost fine under WOT so i know the spring is tight enough. I just want to be certain this is normal before I drive the car anymore.

Thanks

I didn't think so. But I don't understand how it holds 25 psi to redline if it leaks at idle.

sounds like the spring could be too tight or too stiff of a spring maybe? If not could be a defective unit!

I had an APS on my car and I did not have the problem of it leaking at idle, it would blow off early sometimes. Now when you say VTA, is it blocked from the intake recirc completely because the APS, mine was, is a dual port BOV. Also with mine, I only got to to each the atmosphere port once, not using it anymore.

too tight? I guess I have nothing to lose if I go loosen it up and see what happens. If it doesn't work, i'll pull it apart to see if anything is obstructing the valve from closing all the way. And if that doesn't fix it i'm going to pick up an SSQV tomorrow.

How new is the BOV? If that does not work you should send it back and get another one.

all BOV's are "open" when seeing vacuum.
