20g9 turbo

My current setup has netted roughly 440whp and roughly 440wtq on a MD dyno. It's alot of fun.

I checked out turbochargers.com and the prices for the 20G-9 are pretty good in comparison to the stated prices of others on the market. To peak interests, turbochargers.com is selling both 20G-9s. The TME is going for $1250 and w/o the TME is going for $900. The TME they are calling it the Stage II 20G-9 and w/o the TME, they are calling it the Stage I. They both come with the 10.5 hotside and the installation kit is priced at $150. I know that certain places require that you have to purchase the hotside separately. With all of that said (typed), is the $350 difference between their Stage I and II worth it?

Hi,

No we're working with Helix Japan for the development. They are basically sending us parts some of which we are machining and testing based on their recommendations. In turn they are working with IHI, MHI, and FHI Japan supppliers / engineers. It's funny how closely these companies collaborate together on product development. Supposedly the IHI VF39 (stock STI turbo) turbine wheel was manufactured at MHI factory instead of IHI.

As for the 20G turbo, I see very little difference in the TME and EVO IX wheel / bearing design. You'll want to get the larger compressor cover though (EVO IX compressor) as that makes about an extra 20HP over the stock housing.

Cheers,

Gary
