I have BR Evo 8 20g tme with 10.5 hotside. After installing it in my mildly moded 03 evo, I can say that my but dyno increase about 30hp with no additional tune or increase boost. Boost response is about the same as stock but with no tapering at top. Check my A/F and is alittle leaner than before but not going over 11.5. Surging only happens at certian rpm and throttle position, but using stock intake almost cure that problem. Maybe afther a proper tune i will get more power. Using 91 pee gas and 22psi of boost.

Here is some picture of the turbo. I think most of my gains was from a better flowing turbo since the turbin was cliped and a bigger hotside. I wonder if those other cheaper 20Gs comes with the clipped turbin. I think it helps. https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=177969

I installed an EVO8 20G on my customers car the last weekend, and with the AEM EMS i did not notice any surging on my test drive. Boost came on fast and the top end was improved, still need to tune a bit to get the most out of it.

I don't know a ton about standalones, but is it possible with the EMS you could tune out boost surging?

I am now running at 25psi, which was good for ~330whp on BR's MD. There was another on pump that got around 320. Overall very happy, even get some wheel chirp in second gear. I have not driven the 30psi, but will give a try when track opens in next weel or two.

There really are not that many out there. I think that it has been difficult to get the Evo 9 turbos from mitsu. I have one but I am doing my own road tuning with the UTEC no dyno. I am also breaking in a new clutch so I have not beat on it yet. I will report back when I do.

Your 20G is basically the same unit as what NOLIMIT and SPEEDELEMENT are selling. 6-blade original designed and sell by BR/Turbocharger.com. But due to some sort of business dispute, BR bailed on Turbocharger.Com and went w/ Forced Performance to do a collabo of their own 20G setup (5 blade design). There isn't really any difference in terms of performance of these two.

The reason Turbochargers.com and various vendors are selling these 20G cheap is because Turbocharger got stuck w/ a large quantity of 20Gs BR originally ordered. So what do you expect? 100 units of 20G ain't cheap! that is what? at least more than $100k worth of inventory stuck at your warehouse. Wouldn't you want them out of there if you are a supplier? Thats just some major $$ tied up right there.. So they just want these 20Gs out of there hence "CHEAPER" than usual prices! So to those of you want a 20G setup, this is your fat chance!! I got mine! Just waiting to be installed!
