Once it reaches 4000rpm and above it pulls like crazy and just doesnt stop....remember anything over 4k the turbo is pushing so much more power so even if your not at full boost the car is still hauling ***.... Before I bought the 35R I kept looking at dyno graphs to see when full boost hits but when you actually drive it you will know full boost dont mean anything....to me it doesnt. Yes a smaller turbo will get a head jump if you are both at 3k rpm and start to go at it but in about 3 seconds time you will destroy him.
What is your goal and what is it you want from your car?
1. "dam this turbo is fast" get the 20g-9
2.OMFG holy $hit- get the 35R
this is my opinion.
BTW I have not been in a Evo with the 20-9 but my friend does have the HKS 3037 turbo on his Evo 8.

Derek888.
I'm somewhere between #1 and #2. What is my goal? 400-450whp race/alky combination, No AEM EMS, Dynoflash ECU (when needed), all Buschur Racing parts. Maybe the 20G-9 is the candidate of choice. But again, I'm not trying to do anything crazy until the car's paid off. Three mouths to feed. On the other hand, maybe the GT35R is the way to go because once the car is paid off, I'll already have the necessary parts to shoot for the 500whp range.
Well, the best thing you have on your side is time.
It seems that every couple months someone unveils the next great thing that we are all looking for. After much scrutiny, you can decide to buy it or say bye to it. A lot of us are looking for the ultimate compromise turbo (stockish spool and top end punch)
Keep your eyes peeled on the boards like you are doing now and don't be afraid to be old fashioned and pick up the phone to get the info you need straight from the vendors.
Be patient and save your $$$ three mouthes to feed is 3 times more than most of us.

I disagree with the above. It has been said already (pretty sure by Buschur himself but not 100% positive) that the 20g will not make much more power on pump gas than a 10.5 16g, it will spool a little slower too. The 20g will however hold higher boost when run on race gas or alky/meth injection and that is where it will shine over the 16g.
To the above poster, I would wait until we see more 20g cars running at the track before making a decision.

GT35R all the way.
you might want to look into the fp 3065 turbo...its between a 30r and a 35r....it might have the great power you're looking for with a little less lag at higher boost levels.
jarrod, from buschur, just posted up his results, you should check them out. a lot of people are interested in the results (including myself) because we're somewhat in the same predictament as you...we want the ability to go big but have a little more power down low. mind you this won't be anything near the 20g low end, but better than the 35r.
if you have already have or are planning to get a stroker, then the 3065 will be insane fun to drive. just my .02
