05-06 rear diff question

I just got my 06 mr, and I have an issue that if I take a hard turn, and the rear diff kicks in, when I come to a stop and start out, the rear end makes a clicking noise and the sound increases with speed then goes away. My thought is the rear diff isn't dissengaging. I dont know if its normal, and it only happens sometimes. My 03 didn't do this, but the diffs are different. My car only has 400 miles on it, in my 03 the diff was low on oil, that could be it aswell???? ITs strange it just comes and goes. could my rear diff be messed up?

What about slow sharp turns.. is the car skipping and skidding?

not that I have noticed, but like I said it only has 400 miles on it and I haven't got to drive it much. It's deffinatly coming from the rear end, but only sometimes.

Seems like alot of rear diff clicking problems lately. Wondering if its because dealers are not topping off the fluid levels during inspection.

Anyway, my '05 did this after the mistakenly replaced the rear diff. I only got this noise after the car was good and warmed up and it only occured at low speeds when turning. I did feel the back end skipping/jumping a little bit, but it was pretty difficult to tell.

My original rear diff was put back in and no problems.

Good luck. Keep us posted when you find out what it is.

My 06 MR is making that sound, I ordered a shop manual CD from Helm,Inc. I plan on changing my rear diff fluid when I figure out the procedure and correct fluid type.
