Test Pipe Gasket HELP HELP
my Test Pipe Gasket has broken 3 times already and the guys that keep replacing it dont know what it could be maybe you guys could help me.
your exhaust continually blows out the gasket I assume is what you mean.
This means that the exhaust is not correctly lining up with the TP What you need to do if this is the case....unbolt the TP from the catback portion of the exhaust. Connect the gasket and TP to your down pipe and bolt it firmly together. Sometimes some high temp exhaust sealant around the gasket can help. Now..support the rest of exhaust system while you bolt it back up to rear of the TP, once again using the sealant with your gasket. The trick here is to watch the flanges and make sure to draw them together evenly. Use sufficient pressure to either push/pull the exhaust system in the right direction to line it up as you draw the bolts together. Let everything cure up for a couple hours before you start the car if you used sealant.
I had the same prob of a leaky exhaust (blown gasket) at my cat and this is how I fixed it when I installed my TP. If this sounds like what you are experiencing try and do it yourself instead of paying someone to work on your car....at least you will know you did it right.
