Weird noise when downshifting???

Hey guys, I have a weird noise every time I downshift? Seems like it’s coming from the clutch. It's kind of like a humming noise as I lift my foot off the clutch pedal and engage the lower gear. I checked the clutch oil and it was good. Has anyone here had this problem?

I get it all the time also. Mitsubishi says it is normal. My thought is that if it was normal, why didn't it make that sound during my test drive before I bought the car.

Those who knows better, doesn't. The reason you downshift is to help the brakes when you are going down a steep hill. You keep downshifting alot and your clutch will not last that long. I would rather change brakes pads than keep replacing the clutch.

Mine's done it since day 1. I have an '03 with 47k miles and still on stock clutch. I've read that it's the throwout bearing doing it. Sometimes in the morning when I shift into reverse and it's really cold out, it'll make that noise and the car will move slightly. That supports the TOB theory. It's caused me to rev-match every single time I downshift, and now a blip of the throttle is automatic for me when I downshift. I'm just waiting to see if it goes away when the next clutch gets installed. Hopefully that's not for a while, knock on wood...

You shouldnt have to replace your clutch if you rev-match

Mine has always done this too. A guy I know that has worked at mitsu for 15 years said they wont do anything about it if you bring the car in because theres nothing to fix. He said they all do it.
