"one of the tuners"? Haha. Everyone recommends a twin plate. They are the best and far more reliable. The single disks are ok and can hold power, but have issues and don't hold up as well unless you never race.

"Everyone" HA HA!! We have plenty of guys running single plates without issues with cars that are raced hard. I have seen those "best and most reliable" twin plates fail and they have tradeoffs as well.

That depends a lot on the launch and which single plate you are talking about. If it's 6k with our street clutch and using the stock restrictor in the hydraulics, sure it's going to be hard on it. That is only because it can only take so much heat from the excessive slipping under boost. But if it's 6k without restrictor and you don't slip it too much, it's not nearly as bad. And if you are running the race disc, it will take a whole lot more abuse. Turbotrix ran the same clutch for a year running nines and it was no problem. After that it was only changed because not because it was worn out, but they really cranked up the power and they needed our first Xtreme pressure plate to handle it.

The key is getting the right clutch for the job. If you get our street clutch, don't expect it to be the ideal race clutch. If you get our race clutch, or the Exedy twin for that matter, don't expect it to be the ideal street clutch. Can they crossover? Sure, but be aware of the benefits and tradeoffs of what ever clutch you are using. If you drive heavy traffic every day, you probably don't want a race clutch. If you are building a quiet sleeper and want to impress your girlfriend, you probably don't want an Exedy twin. If you are building an all out track monster, you don't want a street clutch.
