anybody using the 20G 9 turbo with a titanium wheel? What kind of boost can these turbos hold to redline.

I just bought one. Once I get it installed and tuned, I'll let you know. Until then you may want to search, I think there are a few people on the forum who already got some results posted.

I am. I have the EVO-IX 20G Ti with the 6-blade compressor, not the newer 5-blade model sold by Buschur.

I've spent an entire day on the dyno tuning it. Previously, I had the TME turbo, which also has a Ti turbine wheel.

As compared to the TME, the 20G spools 300-400rpm slower. It doesn't make as much torque as the TME until ~5000 rpm.

At redline, the TME was a 17.6 psi. The 20G is holding to 21 psi, but it isn't making any more power than the TME did. This is using 93 oct + methanol.

YMMV.

if i ever get the turbo which i sent out a long time ago i will post up results. and on pump(93) with b4 and after dyno runs. Maybe this will clear up some controversy that has been going on for a while.

Hey Ted,

I truly believe your source, your information is very useful. My concerns arise because everyone knows that a bigger turbo has worst spool up(for the most part) but a bigger turbo also gives you more top end.

You proved us that the TME spools faster and perhaps it shines better than the 20G Ti at mid range but wouldn't you think that the the EVO 9 20G should be making more power at top?

I am not doubting you, I am just skeptical to admit that a Evo 9 20G Ti can't make more power than a TME.

As per today, I am looking for a turbo upgrade, but after reading some post from you and Vishnu I think that the TME is a great candidate.

It should, but it didn't. When this happens, it indicates that the turbo is creating a great deal of pressure on the exhaust side, which cannot be overcome by adding a few psi more pressure to the intake. This is referred to as a pressure ratio problem.

The TME made the same power with less boost pressure than my 6-blade 20G. Recent testing I've seen indicates the 5-blade 20G doesn't have this problem, but I cannot confirm.
