Evo 9 turbo....or.....TME?

Just trying to make up my mind on what turbo to get. I currently am running a 9.8 hotside and have the money to upgrade to a stock replacement. I am not reall too interested in the 20g-9. I haven't seen anyone with an Evo8 upgrade to just the factory 9 turbo yet. Looking for some opinions. Will the 9 turbo be that much different than the Evo 8 turbo in power?

For what it’s worth... I was in the same position looking at the IX turbo, the 20G-9-5, the TME.... I just ordered a single flap (not sure it matters) 10.5 hotside and decided to call it at that for ~$250. I am going to install it ported/polished (doing that myself) with my stock manifold and a nice ebay 02 housing I got for $60 shipped…

I would say the IX or the TME should be great, but not sure how much HP/TQ over just a hotside upgrade. I would guess it was a question of spool RPM versus cost…

EVO9 will give you a lot more power higher up and TME will give slightly quicker and slightly more power through the entire RPM range, from what I have read. I would go with the EVO9 turbo ...

I have the same question... only way you can tell is by buying both and trying them back to back on the dyno..

will give you a cookie if you do so

Id go with the TME if your staying on 93 and the IX if you've got alky or run on race gas with increased boost.

"Tommi Makinen edition 6.5 RS titanium alloy turbo - TD05 RA 16G 10.5T. We have found this turbo to be an excellent upgrade for the 2003-4 Evolution. It displays a lot better characteristics in the upper rev range, with the added benefit of spooling sooner because of its lighter weight internal cartridge..."

WR or 20g-9-5, it spools the same and makes at least 30 more whp up top.
