My mechanic talked about using a stethiscope (my spelling sucks without spellcheck :-)
on the car when trouble shooting, You might be able to borrow or buy a cheap pair to check out your issue.

Good luck

Since you already voided your warranty just get some fluid and check it yourself. If it is full of shavings it is most likely done. Good luck hopefully it is not the same thing that happened to my car. Twice

Yeah the day after i checked the fluid and it came out really clean a little bit of the normal stuff on the magnet but no chunks or shavings.

I had the issue and it turned out to be stripped exhaust bolt where the downpipe met the cat/testpipe. Replaced that and tightened it up and all was well again.

Check your turbo for shaft play and report back.

OK , my issue appears to be solved. When the shop put the IC back together (from the accident repair), they either didn't observe the torque specs, or the clamps "heat cycled" their way lose.

I also needed to put in a slightly longer piece of silcone hose that joins the AMS lower IC pipes, because of the added "stretch" that the wider IC caused.

It's now about a 3 & 1/2 inch gap between the two pipes , so I'm going to insert a piece of thin 2" diameter (new) exhaust pipe that is almost the length of the gap so that the extra length of hose doesn't begin to baloon as it ages.

Well i am glad yours got resolved I have looked at the turbo and there was no shaft play. i guess i will be tearing the undertray off and checking out the ic pipes also maybe the leak test will help i hope.
