Yeah, make sure the MAF plug is connected. I know you connected it, but make sure it's 100% SEATED. I had that happen to me once...I connected it, but it wasn't completely latched.

If that's not the case, you may have damaged the MAF. Can you switch yours out with another local Evo just to make sure?

i know when i clean my maf sensor I was told I needed to use non-chlorinated brake cleaner - and im assuming that electronic cleaner is also non-chlorinated- but check the bottle to make sure... Also you say u let it dry all day- it should have dried almost right in front of your eyes since its almost pure alcohol- you may have soaked it to much...

2 questions...

1) Why was your MAF "dirty"
2) WTF is electrical contact cleaner

I just cleaned mine with a non-flamable Brake cleaner and blew a little compressed air at it to dry it out.

No problems.

I think you need to clean it again and blow a little air to it. There could be a film residue covering the sensor causing it not to read correctly.

If that doesn't work, then you need to put the dirty stuff back in there!!

my friend hade the same problem on his 03. he used brake cleaner and let it dry, it drys fast and had your problem. he took it apart again and this time used contact cleaner,(sprayed the crap out of it). and hooked it up and it ran fine again. hope you have the same luck. BTW contact cleaner should dry almost imediatly, even faster than alcohol

The ONLY proven way to properly clean a maf without jacking it up is with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol. I have seen mafs get messed up by spraying it with brake cleaner, carb cleaner, and that electric cleaner.

As the 03 evos get older we will be seeing this condition more and more - the solution is to use a oil catch can and using a good air filter
