This past week I installed a IX turbo on my VIII. After killing the battery and troubleshooting the leak of the century I'm finally done. FYI, if anyone is planning on going this route you can get by with the VIII coolant and oil lines but the IX outlet pipe is a must!!!

The spool up is a slower then the VIII turbo but once it hits look out. This car pulls like a motherf**ker!!! Drag times coming soon.

I figured since I have typical bolt-ons like most people this might be of interest.

 

so you went from a 05 turbo to a 06 turbo both with a 10.5 and you felt a nice gain?
how much did it cost you for ix turbo?

Have you logged AFR´s after the switch? Did you have to add fuel on the topend?

about how much later was spool. Some say it's not even noticable.

 

i was plannin to go that route but not anytime soon.

dyno results will definitely help....what else did you have to buy to do the conversion....

 

I did check the a/f but that was with a massive leak between the o2 housing and hotside. Spool up was at 4500-4800 with the leak and the a/f was exactly the same as my stock turbo (11.3ish in 3rd).

Spool up with no leak is now between 3800-4100 rpm. That's with my current cam gear settings -3-2. I will check the a/f tonight.

 

I bought two studs for the new hotside since it doesn't come with it. I would have hit the dyno before and after but money is tight and track results will tell me the gains. I'm expecting 11.5-6 at 117-118.

I too did this mod i bought an Evo 9-20G for my 05 and i see the same thing later spool but when it hit's it's on with no tune at all after the turbo i'm seeing Trap speed's of 111mph before they were at 107 i want to play around with the Cam gears to see if i can improve spool.
