black inside the plenum
black inside the plenum
Hi all,
a week ago I removed the throttle, and I found the plenum to be ok to my eyes.
But when I cleaned it with some white paper, the paper became black !
Engine is 1000 miles old.
Do you think it could be due to reversion ?
Have to try to retard intake cam of a pair of degrees ?
TIA !

If you got no more EGR then it must be the remaining molybdenum grease on the TB plate that the mitsu assembler overserviced from the factory.
Also, if you still have the rubber ducting it's netorious of yeilding black crud. For example, take a wet cloth and wipe the inside of the hose - black, do it again - same, the rubber will just give off the crap as long as it's in there.

No, I don't think it comes from before the throttle... I changed every rubber ducting to silicone ones !

crank case oil gets aerated and sent back into the intake system. It is a normal occurrence, but many people install oil catch cans to remove this, because it robs power from the engine, forcing it to burn that recirculated oil.
